In the Exercise Science program you’ll apply what you learn to improve health, wellness, athletic performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery. Major students study the impact of inactivity and poor nutrition on chronic disease as well as ways to improve athletic performance, optimize training and recovery from exercise, and reduce injury. The program integrates learning experiences in the classroom with direct application in the laboratory.
There are three Exercise Science tracks to choose from:
The Kinesiology track is the traditional major that prepares you for graduate school or for a job in a health care related field. This track requires science electives to ensure requirements are met for those looking into graduate school. The Health and Fitness track prepares you for careers in fitness and sport and is designed to align with certification requirements from the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. The K-12 Licensure track leads to a teaching license. This qualifies you to teach Physical Education in all public and private K-12 schools.
